Over the years, online shopping and e-commerce have changed how we shop, but they have also caused some big problems with deliveries. Occasionally, deliveries are late. But in a few cases, people have had to wait for their orders for several years. Here are some examples of exceptionally late deliveries.
Mumbai man receives call from Flipkart six years after placing order
A man in Mumbai ordered a pair of Sparx slippers from Flipkart in May 2018 but never received them. After six years, he was surprised to receive a call from Flipkart customer support about his long-delayed order.
He posted about his unusual experience on X and included a picture of his order history. He bought a pair of Sparx Slippers for ₹485 on May 16, 2018. The slippers were sent out three days later, on May 19, with an expected delivery date of May 20.
Mr Kharbai said he has not received the slippers, even though the app always said they would arrive today. The order still shows as undelivered, and the status has stayed the same, according to Mr Kharbai’s statement to Hindustan Times.
“After 6 yrs @Flipkart called me for this order asking me what issue I was facing,” he wrote on X.
“Maybe you opened Flipkart from Internet Explorer,” a user joked.
Another user shared a similar experience, stating that their order has been stuck in the ‘out for delivery’ status since 2015.

Mr Kharbai clarified that the order was a cash-on-delivery transaction. He decided not to pursue the matter further because he could not cancel the order on the app. He said he wanted to close the order simply because it was the first item he saw in the Flipkart order section.
He said he accidentally clicked on the order the day before while looking through the list. This caused Flipkart to contact him the next day.
The customer service representative asked if he had received any calls from the logistics team and apologized for the issue, saying they were “very sorry for this, sir.”
After four years, an Alibaba package finally reaches a techie in Delhi
If you are Nitin Agarwal, how would you respond to a delivery that arrives four years late? You would respond with a dose of humour.
The tech product reviewer shared a photo on X of a package he bought from the now-banned online store AliExpress, owned by the Chinese company Alibaba. The package was delivered four years after the order was placed.
The techie uploaded a picture of a package to his Twitter account and wrote, “
Never lose hope! So, I ordered this from Ali Express (now banned in India) back in 2019 and the parcel was delivered today.” The package in the photo has some Chinese writing on it.

The post got 95.6 thousand views and 1.1 thousand likes. Some people congratulated Agarwal for finally receiving his package, even though it was very late. Others advised him to check the product’s expiration date.
“I ordered two products in 2019 December. So I can hope it might get delivered someday,” wrote an X user.
Some people teased that it might be delivered to his grandchildren!
One person mentioned that they ordered a product in 2018, but it has yet to be delivered. Another person joked that they still need to receive the voter ID card they ordered from India Post.
According to the Economic Times, India banned 54 Chinese apps in 2020 due to security concerns. Apps such as Ali Baba, TikTok, Shareit, and Mi Community were seen as potentially harmful to India’s sovereignty, defence, security, and public order.
The government of India asked Google’s Play Store to block about 224 Chinese apps, which were later banned in India.
The ban made the relationship between the two countries even worse. They were already arguing about a fight in 2020 that led to deaths in the military from both countries.
