Eddie Vedder made a Pearl Jam fan’s dream come true by inviting him onstage to perform “Yellow Ledbetter.”
This event occurred during Pearl Jam’s two-night residency in Barcelona, Spain.
The fan, Carlos from Chile, travelled over 7,000 miles to attend the concerts. He brought Chilean wine and a handmade sign that read, “Pls let me play Y.Ledbetter on guitar. PS hope u liked the Chilean wine.”
As Carlos recounted on Instagram, Vedder noticed his sign during the first night and even took it from him at one point.
Later, a security guard returned the sign to Carlos with a handwritten note from Vedder that said, “Keep playing.”
Carlos returned with his sign at the second show, and Vedder recognized him. Vedder explained that he had dreamt about Carlos and his sign.
As the band prepared to play their final song, “Yellow Ledbetter,” Vedder locked eyes with Carlos and asked if he knew how to play guitar.
Carlos said yes, joined the band on stage, and was handed a guitar by a tech. The band then played an impassioned version of their 1992 classic.
Vedder and bassist Jeff Ament showed their approval as Carlos skillfully played the iconic riff. The moment was filled with heartwarming magic, excitement, appreciation, and musical bliss as Carlos knew how to play guitar.
Pearl Jam will soon return to the US for a series of shows in support of their new album, Dark Matter.
How to get tickets to Pearl Jam’s 2024 tour
Pearl Jam has officially announced their 2024 tour, taking them to various cities across North America and Europe. This tour supports their newly released album, Dark Matter, which debuted on April 19th.
Following a few shows in 2023, Pearl Jam is set for a major stadium tour in 2024 to promote their new album, Dark Matter.
The North American leg starts on May 4th in Vancouver. They will then perform in other West Coast cities such as Portland, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles and headline at BottleRock Napa and Ohana Fest.
In June 2024, they toured the UK and Europe. They will return to the US in August for shows in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Boston.
Pearl Jam will also perform in Australia and New Zealand in November.
Special guests for Pearl Jam’s 2024 tour include Deep Sea Diver (North America Leg 1), Glen Hansard (North America Leg 2), The Murder Capital (UK/EU), Richard Ashcroft (Dublin and London), and Pixies (Australia and New Zealand).
Pearl Jam’s 2024 tour tickets will have all-in pricing, meaning the listed price includes transaction fees. Tickets will be non-transferrable outside Ticketmaster, except for New York and Illinois shows.
