Earlier this month, Queens of the Stone Age had to cancel several European tour dates when frontman Josh Homme was rushed back to the United States for emergency surgery.
The band has announced that even more European performances will be cancelled, allowing Homme to remain under medical care.
The announcement was made via an Instagram post on Friday, explaining that “it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States,” listing the European festivals the band had to withdraw from.
The post concluded, “The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”
In place of Queens of the Stone Age, Jack White has been tapped to fill their slots at several upcoming festivals, including Øya Festival in Norway, Way Out West in Sweden, and Syd For Solen in Denmark.

The dates follow the surprise vinyl release of White’s latest album earlier this month.
The exact details of Homme’s medical condition remain unknown.
However, he revealed last year that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and had undergone successful surgery to remove it.
Despite these health challenges, Homme has received an “all clear” status regarding his cancer.
In a recent interview with ITV, Homme shared, “I’m good. I’m all clear,” adding that he’s feeling “the best I’ve felt all year.”
He also opened up about the emotional toll of losing several close friends in the past year and a half, including former bandmate Mark Lanegan and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Reflecting on these losses, Homme said, “A lot of people have passed away near (me), nine people in the last … year and a half now.”
Additionally, Homme alluded to the difficulties surrounding his contentious breakup with his ex-wife, singer Brody Dalle of The Distillers.
“And I had a little heartache, and I had a little of this and a little of that. But also, I’ve never learned so much so quickly. And so, I’m sort of thankful for it all at the end because I feel closer to the things I truly love.”
Queens of the Stone Age’s European dates have been removed. Still, the band will continue their “The End Is Nero” tour in the United States this September, with scheduled stops in Boston, Chicago, Memphis, and more. Tickets for these upcoming dates are available now.
The support from fans and the music community has been overwhelming.
The Instagram post announcing the cancellations received numerous messages of support and well wishes for Homme’s recovery.
The band’s fans have expressed their understanding and patience, emphasizing the importance of Homme’s health.
In contrast, Jack White’s addition to the festival line-ups has also been met with excitement.
White’s recent surprise album release has kept his name buzzing in the music world, and his performances are highly anticipated.
Tickets for White’s European festival sets are also available, and fans are eager to see how he will fill the void left by Queens of the Stone Age.
