A “creepy” history teacher who admitted to stalking teenage students has been banned from teaching.

Fergie Robson, 57, contacted two women at a school and another two he was tutoring online.

He sent one student a book he had written, The Bin Brigade, which contained explicit language and descriptions of sex acts, instructing her to keep it secret.

Robson was later reported, and it was revealed that he had also been inappropriately messaging two other women he tutored over Zoom.

He repeatedly sent one student messages, including a request for a video of her twerking.

Robson, from Carluke, Lanarkshire, appeared at Lanark Sheriff Court, where he admitted to four stalking charges involving girls aged 15 to 17 but avoided jail time.

The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) has now revoked his teaching license.

A “removal” order has been placed against his registration on the GTCS website, meaning he is banned from teaching unless he can prove he is fit to return.

South Lanarkshire Council confirmed he had not been employed by them since December 2023.

In court, it was revealed that Robson had touched one woman’s thighs to remove dog hair after driving her and another student to an event.

She placed her hands behind her legs to stop him and later described his behavior as “creepy.”

He later emailed her song lyrics, calling them “intensely private between you and me if that’s ok?”

Robson also sent a message suggesting she pose for a staged photo looking “nerdy” with glasses, chewing a pen, and a Fleetwood Mac LP in the background.

The woman found his comments unsettling and noted that he called her “gorgeous” and said she would look “hot” in a dress for church.

Robson was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work and placed under supervision for two years last June.

Sheriff Siobhan Connelly determined his actions had a “significant sexual element” and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for two years.

His offenses occurred between March and November 2022.

Sheriff Connelly told Robson that his behavior had a clear sexual nature, noting that he had violated a position of trust and that his actions could have a lasting impact on the children involved.

Seriously, the word “girls” or “children” would be appropriate. Use of the word “women” is both inaccurate AND a whitewash of this predator’s crimes.
